Justice Goodwin Liu, is an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. He was confirmed to office by a unanimous vote of the California Commission on Judicial Appointments on August 31, 2011. Before joining the state’s highest court, Justice Liu was Professor of Law at the UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). His primary areas of expertise are constitutional law, education law and policy, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has published widely on these subjects in books, law reviews, and the general media. The son of Taiwanese immigrants, Justice Liu grew up in Sacramento, and is a graduate of Yale Law School (JD ’98), Stanford University (BA ’91), and attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a masters degree in philosophy and physiology.
Last year, in conjunction with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and Yale Law School, Justice Liu co-authored the first ever comprehensive study of Asian Americans in the legal profession. The study can be found here: https://www.apaportraitproject.org/
Professor David B. Wilkins '80, is the Lester Kissel Professor of Law, Vice Dean for Global Initiatives on the Legal Profession, and Faculty Director of the Center on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Harvard University Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics. Professor Wilkins has written over 80 articles on the legal profession in leading scholarly journals and the popular press, one of the leading casebooks in the field, and recently published two books on the Globalization of the Legal Profession focusing on India and Brazil.
Professor Wilkins co-founded Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Program, where he teaches in several courses including Leadership in Law Firms and Leadership in Corporate Counsel. Last year, Professor Wilkins published “After the JD (a ten-year nationwide longitudinal study of lawyers' careers)”.
