About the Program
Join us for a fireside chat with Stanford Law Professor Mila Sohoni, one of the nation’s leading authorities on universal injunctions.
The discussion will center on the Supreme Court’s 2025 decision in Trump v. CASA—a landmark ruling reshaping the future of nationwide injunctions, a tool used by federal courts to block executive and legislative action. Professor Sohoni, who has authored foundational scholarship on this topic and submitted amicus briefs to the Court, will provide an insider’s perspective on:
- What universal injunctions are and why they have become one of the most hotly debated issues in constitutional law.
- How the Court’s decision in Trump v. CASA changes the landscape for litigants, lower courts, and the separation of powers.
- What comes next for this powerful judicial remedy in light of shifting Supreme Court doctrine.
The conversation will be moderated by Chris Egleson (JD '05), an appellate and commercial litigation partner at Sidley Austin LLP, who will guide the discussion across doctrinal, practical, and policy dimensions. Chris Egleson is Professor Sohoni’s HLS classmate, counsel — and husband!
You are warmly invited to a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception hosted by HLSA of NorCal and Sidley preceding the panel discussion.
Please RSVP by October 28, 2025.
